About Me
I would like to let you know a little bit about myself. I’m from Somali and I raised there most of my life, then in July 2015 I moved to Seattle after I won DV lottery. It was one of my dreams that I have had in my life to live in the USA to study and work. I graduated from highline college in 2018 with an associate Degree of Arts and I’m on my way to bachelor’s degree also I have bachelor’s degree with education from back home (Somalia). I’m married and have three beautiful daughters; one is 13 years old, and one is turning 3 years old, and the other is 4 months. When I’m not studying or working I like to spend time with my family; also I like to watch TV programs like sports, cooking and I like drawing.
Why I work at PIE
For PIE, I want to help our community in Seattle, Washington for those who need our assistant with the different programs that PIE provides to the refugees and immigrant people. My first and fun work was for the Norwegian Refugee Council in Somalia and Kenya which I spent almost 5 years to work with the vulnerable people who fled their own homes because of civil wars. it was very tough work and I liked to help refugees people in the world and I got more experience from there.
